Adobe AIR hits the 25M milestone
In about six months, AIR has already been installed 25 million times. That’s not bad for a desktop runtime that’s only on version 1.1! Note, this is not the number of times it has been downloaded (that number is a lot bigger). We get a one-time anonymous ping when a runtime is first installed, and upgraded runtimes are not included so the number isn’t inflated. We don’t track which apps are getting installed, so it’s hard to say which ones are most popular, but we know that the eBay app has been installed over a million times, Twhirl hit the 500K milestone last week according to Loic Le Meur, AOL Top 100 Video is pretty popular on the Adobe Marketplace and Adobe Media Player has definitely added to the numbers.
I hear from people looking for cool AIR apps all the time. Some great resources are o2Apps.com, refreshingapps.com and the Adobe AIR Marketplace. There are several hundred apps out there (and this isn’t all of them – there are a lot more internationally that aren’t on these services) but there’s some cool stuff to be found.
My most used AIR apps? Adobe Directory, which is our internal AIR application for finding Adobe employee information, and TweetDeck.
